Yoga may not be intuitively a form of resistance training, except by those practitioners of yoga who know it to be so. My introduction to yoga was a 90 minute workout from the popular P90x Beachbody routine with Tony Horton. I had no idea. It became my favorite workout of the DVD series, but it was the longest.

It will not be possible for the novice to do yoga without instruction from a video or in person. I do not think it reasonable to get it from a book or manual. As usual, thanks to the generosity of others sharing their expertise, there is no shortage of help out there, in the ether that we know as the internet.

The videos I linked to below are free, but many do have annoying adds you’ll need to put up with. You can buy a specific video that may be more convenient, or subscribe to a service such as the one Tony Horton is affiliated with. Many commercial videos are streaming services based on subscriptions.

This is only one comprehensive Yoga site if you are interested in making Yoga a significant part of your lifestyle.

10 Minute Routine

A good one to start with. Not too aggressive. Get your feet wet.

25 Minutes

Also for beginners, but a bit more difficult than the first.

60 Minutes

Closer to the P90x routine. Takes more time, but is well led.

20 Minutes

This is a well-done video with good instruction.
